A collective of educators and students engages in immersive art- and design-driven practice to reimagine higher-education and primary-school teaching and learning at, and beyond, the University of Teacher Education.

Rooted in curiosity, care and attentiveness to diverse histories and voices, the collective offers open-ended impulses that anyone can adapt, question or extend across a growing constellation of educational hubs.

Check-In: Iconic Reflection Walk

Overview:

This paired exercise invites students to translate their second observation day into visual symbols and deepen understanding through a moving dialogue.

  1. Icon Selection (5 min):
Spread out the worksheet of diverse icons. Individually choose five symbols—positive or negative—that best capture moments from your second observation day (surprises, joys, challenges, or questions).

  2. Partner Sharing (5 min):
Pair up and take turns explaining your five icons: why you chose each one and what it reveals about your experience.

  3. Dialogue Walk (10 min):
Together, walk slowly around the outdoor space or campus path. Continue your conversation, reflecting on how your partner’s icons resonate with or differ from your own insights.

  4. Group Snapshot (5 min):
Reconvene briefly to name one shared theme or question that emerged from your walk, noting how walking side by side shifted your conversation.

Cultural & Contextual Sensitivity:
Everyone’s icon choices and reflections are shaped by different backgrounds and experiences. Honour each person’s story, listen with curiosity, and maintain a pace and setting that feels safe and inclusive for all.
