A collective of educators and students engages in immersive art- and design-driven practice to reimagine higher-education and primary-school teaching and learning at, and beyond, the University of Teacher Education.

Rooted in curiosity, care and attentiveness to diverse histories and voices, the collective offers open-ended impulses that anyone can adapt, question or extend across a growing constellation of educational hubs.

Warm-Up: One-Finger Descent (Inspired by Rosa-Sophie Hamburger)

Overview:

A collaborative balance exercise that quietly demands coordination and shared attention.

  1. Line Up & Extend (2 min):
Form a straight or circular line. Each person extends one arm forward, pointing with a single finger (any finger that feels most comfortable).

  2. Pole Placement (1 min):
Gently rest a long rod—such as a broom handle or wooden dowel—across all outstretched fingers so it balances evenly.

  3. Synchronized Lowering (5 min):
Together, very slowly lower the rod toward the floor. If it starts to slip or drop, pause, re-balance, and try again—using soft, shared cues (“on three… two… one…”).

  4. Reflection Pause (2 min):
Once the rod reaches the ground, or after a few attempts, pause to notice what helped the group succeed or struggle: communication, pacing, or body alignment.

  5. Adaptation & Inclusivity (2 min):
Invite everyone to suggest tweaks—using different fingers, varying stances, or supportive props—so the exercise honours diverse physical abilities and comfort levels.

Cultural & Contextual Sensitivity:
Recognize that physical coordination and touch norms vary across cultures and bodies. Participation is voluntary; offer alternatives (e.g., two fingers, palms, or lightweight rope) to ensure everyone can engage meaningfully and respectfully.
